Description
PERMA-HAND™ Suture, Size 4-0, 18", Black, TF Needle, is a nonabsorbable braided suture composed of natural silk derived from the Bombyx mori silkworm. It is processed to remove natural waxes and gums, resulting in a purified protein strand suitable for medical use. Classified as a nonabsorbable material, silk maintains wound approximation until healing is sufficient, although gradual loss of tensile strength can occur over time.
The suture is coated with a specially formulated wax that enhances its handling properties. This coating reduces capillarity and improves smoothness, allowing the suture to pass easily through tissue while minimizing trauma. Its braided configuration supports reliable knot security, making it particularly effective in procedures requiring precise closure.
This configuration includes a TF (RB-2) taper point needle, 13 mm in length, with 1 strand per pack and 36 strands per box. It is ideal for general soft tissue approximation in ophthalmic, plastic, and microsurgical procedures.
